An elderly man has died after an accident with a truck.
At around 2.50 pm Tuesday, Gardai and emergency services were called for a car-truck collision on the M50 between exits 12 and 13, heading south.
The crash, which took place on the shoulder, claimed the life of a 70-year-old man who was driving the car.
He had collided with the back of the truck.
His body was transferred from the scene to the Dublin City Morgue, where an autopsy will be performed.
The truck driver was unhurt.
The scene is currently being examined by Garda forensic collision investigators and one lane of the highway is closed.
Gardai in Rathfarnham is calling for any witnesses to the collision to come forward.
Gardai also attracts any road user with camera footage (including dash cam) along this route between 2.30pm and 3.00pm to be available to them.
