Elderly man dies after tractor overturns in New Ross, Co Wexford

An elderly man died after his tractor overturned in Co Wexford this morning.

The incident occurred around 10.15 a.m. Sunday in Ballinabanogue near New Ross.

A man in his 70s was the only person in the vehicle at the time of the accident.

He was pronounced dead at the scene and his body was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed on Monday.

A Garda spokesperson said: “Garda attended the scene of a fatal single-vehicle traffic collision that occurred at approximately 10:15 am this morning, Sunday, August 30, 2020, in Ballinabanogue, New Ross, Co. Wexford.

“The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene after the tractor he was driving rolled over.

“His body was taken to Waterford University Hospital, where an autopsy will be performed tomorrow, Monday, September 1.

“The road was closed for a technical examination, it has since been reopened.

“Gardaí is calling for witnesses to this collision to come forward. Gardaí is also appealing to road users who may have camera footage (including dash cam) and who were traveling in the Ballinabanogue / Ballywilliam area at the time. so that these images are available to Gardaí.
