Lonely Planet has chosen eight tourist attractions on the island of Ireland for its Ultimate Travel List.
a Wild Atlantic Way is Ireland’s top draw, ranked 21st, and ranks highest among new additions to the travel list worldwide.
The Atlantic Coastal Route, which runs from Donegal to Cork, has been a hugely successful tourist attraction in recent years.
Other main attractions that entered the scene were Giant’s Causeway, Ring of Kerry, Connemara, Brú na Bóinne, Sliabh Liag, Titanic Belfast and Trinity College Dublin.

The second edition of Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List features its 500 “World’s Most Exciting, Memorable and Interesting Travel Experiences.”
“We are delighted with this news and proud of the historic and beautiful Trinity campus,” said a university spokesperson.
“Our world-renowned Ancient Library, whose treasures include the Book of Kells and the Long Room, typically attracts nearly a million people a year, making it one of the most beloved buildings in the country.”
Tourism Ireland welcomed the news and said that while it is a time when international visitors cannot travel here, their aim is to “keep the lights on” on the island to ensure they are “in the forefront of mind” of potential visitors for the next vacation. .
Tourism Ireland CEO Niall Gibbons said: “I am delighted to see eight fantastic attractions and experiences on the island of Ireland in the latest edition of Lonely Planet’s Ultimate Travel List, including the Wild Atlantic Way which ranks twenty-one.
“I would like to thank Lonely Planet for the wonderful support they have provided to Ireland over the years.
“In what has been a truly terrible year for travel and tourism, this accolade is good news for overseas tourism in Ireland.
“It will help ensure that Ireland remains on the minds of prospective travelers from around the world, until such time as they can visit again.”
The ancient “lost city” of Petra in Jordan was ranked as the best place to visit once international travel is back to normal.
The Galapagos Islands ranked second, Uluru-Kata National Park in Australia was third, the Okavango Delta in Africa fourth, and Old Faithful Geyser in Yellowstone National Park in the United States was fifth.
