Ulster has booked a PRO14 end date next week after completing a dramatic comeback in Murrayfield tonight.
Dan McFarland’s team rallied from 12 fewer points early in the second half to score two unanswered attempts and a last-gasp penalty to set up a clash at Aviva Stadium against Leinster.
Ian Madigan was the hero when he made a crucial conversion to level the proceedings in the closing minutes, before nailing a 40-meter penalty to win the game on the final play.
The hosts were outmatched in the second half as a tough Ulster refused to wave the white flag after dropping 12 in the second half, dominating more than 70 percent of the territory after the break.
A Rob Herring try midway through the second half kicked off the comeback before Sean Reidy went over to set up Madigan’s heroics.
And Ulster has put himself in a picture for Tier 1 in Europe with victory, with Munster at Tier 2 if Leinster or Ulster win the PRO14 final.
After suffering a defeat at the hands of Leinster in Dublin last week, they will head to the capital again with PRO14 cutlery at stake.
