The European Center for Disease Control (ECDC) has given Ireland credit for administering twice as many Covid-19 vaccines as in reality.
According to the ECDC vaccine tracker released today, Ireland leads the way in the EU for vaccine distribution, with more than 10 percent of the population covered.
The state has administered 438,006 vaccines to its population, according to the ECDC. He gave the same figure for the number of vaccines distributed to Ireland and said that 100 percent had been administered.
However, this is at least double the official figure published by the Irish authorities. The Health Department said this morning that the number of first-dose vaccines administered here was 147,700. Some 13,800 have received a second additional dose. The latest HSE figures show that 199,800 doses have been administered: 150,800 first doses and 49,300 second doses.
More than 220,000 people have been vaccinated in Northern Ireland, prompting speculation online that their numbers have been added to those for the Republic in the vaccine tracker. The online tracker went offline at lunchtime when the bugs were reported.
EU Vaccination Tracker
the @ECDC_EU has published its first data on vaccines in the EU.
It is incomplete (missing figures for Denmark, the best performing country) but shows large gaps in national performance.

However, the ECDC said it did not include figures for Northern Ireland. He said there appears to have been a problem with the data reported from Ireland that was in the process of correction.
Contacted about its figures, the ECDC said its vaccine tracker endeavored to provide an overview of the country’s efforts, providing data “as accurate as possible and as timely as possible.”
A spokeswoman said member states upload data at any time, but at least twice a week, and this can lead to “discrepancies” between the figures.
He said that the ECDC constantly reviewed the quality and completeness of the national data to address any possible inconsistencies or discrepancies with the data published in the national reports.
“The data is subject to retrospective correction; The corrected data sets are published as soon as the processing of the updated national data is completed ”.
HSE and the Department of Health were also asked about the number of vaccines distributed here, although officials have said that in general doses are administered as soon as they are received.
Releasing detailed updates on vaccine release figures has been delayed due to IT issues, the HSE said.
Medical director Dr. Tony Holohan said Monday night that he did not know exactly where the error had occurred, but the figures were clearly not correct.
