Dungarvan, Waterford intermediate football champion, has been stripped of his title.

Earlier this month, at the county final, Dungarvan sent in a player who was awaiting the results of a Covid-19 test. It was positive.

Per HSE guidelines, those awaiting Covid-19 test results must self-isolate.

On Wednesday night, the county board issued a statement confirming the punishment that falls under rule 7.2E of the official GAA guidance, which covers “misconduct deemed to discredit the association.”

They also confirmed individual suspensions for six club members.

“In addition to the investigation into the matters arising from the intermediate soccer final and the positive Covid-19 case, the Waterford County Board of Management Executive wishes to report that individual suspensions and disqualification penalties have been accepted. and a fine for the Dungarvan GAA club, “the statement read.

“The Executive Management wishes to thank the officers and members of Dungarvan GAA for their full cooperation with the investigation.”

It is not yet known if the Kill runners-up will win the title and promotion or if the final will simply be canceled.
