Dublin weather today: finally some relief as a cool dry day was forecast for the capital but change is coming soon

Finally, after a week of rain and storms hitting our city, it appears the weather gods have forgiven Dublin this morning and given the capital some relief.

Today’s forecast according to Met Eireann is for dry and cool weather in most areas today, which is the most welcome news for a Saturday morning.

If you can believe it, we should see good sunshine to start and end the day.

But, there is always a but, with cloud formation for the afternoon and well-scattered rains, warns Mey Eireann.

Moderate north-northwest winds will be cool at times near the coasts, and it will be cool for the time of year, with higher temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees Celsius.

Tonight it will be dry with clear spells and just a few isolated showers, but it will also be chilly as summer officially fades with lower temperatures of 5 to 8 degrees Celsius, with light breezes from the north.

There may be some grass frosts later, along with some fog inland.

Sunday will be dry and calm with only isolated light showers once again.

But although it will be quite sunny at first, it will become quite cloudy during the day.

Higher temperatures of 14 to 16 degrees Celsius are expected.

And looking ahead to next week, we can unfortunately expect more rain with weather experts saying conditions are likely to be “unstable”.

Here’s what the national forecast looks like:

Monday: “Dry in most areas starting Monday. Mostly cloudy in the western half of the country, with erratic rains and drizzle over Munster and Connacht in the morning, lingering near the Atlantic coasts later.

“At first it is drier and brighter in the east, but the increasingly dense clouds will bring erratic rains and drizzles here also during the afternoon and evening.

“Still pretty cool with highs just 14-16 degrees.”

Tuesday: “Mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain and drizzle in the east, gradually clearing to the east and clearing later in the day.

“Bright or sunny intervals in the west with scattered showers. A little milder than previous days with highs of 15 to 19 degrees in light to moderate southern breezes veering out of the west.”

Wednesday and Thursday: “Currently, there is a lot of uncertainty, but general conditions are likely to be altered with gusts of rain spreading from the Atlantic in a disturbed airflow from the southwest.

“However, it indicates that the temperatures are closer to average, with air of tropical origin in the mix.”
