One forecaster said: “Conditions became unstable at the end of the weekend, with a period of very wet and sometimes windy weather on Monday and Tuesday.

“Persistent and abundant rains locally, coupled with high levels of soil saturation, carry the risk of flooding in rivers and on the surface.

“Unusually high tides combined with strong winds give a high risk of coastal flooding.”

They added that more weather warnings will be issued tomorrow.
