There are many options available, from a Michelin star meal to fine fish and chips.

Restaurant take-out meals, either ready-to-eat or requiring minimal preparation and assembly, kept many businesses afloat and diners happy during the spring close. With Dublin temporarily closed for indoor dining, many are back on the market, and this time many newcomers are joining the click-and-collect business model.

Here’s a selection of the best of the boxes, from ready meals to home cook kits, available to order at restaurants in the capital city and county.

Aim high and start with an order from a Michelin-starred restaurant. For € 90 you can order a four-course meal for two, including a really good bottle of wine. Orders are taken online and pickup takes place in the restaurant on Saturday night only, with spaces allocated between 5 pm and 7:30 pm This week’s menu is a version of the famous smoked eel, parmesan, The restaurant’s truffle bugle, pie shaped, followed by Old Spot Pork with kimchi and Alexander. Dessert is a pineapple, rum and vanilla fudge, followed by a selection of Irish and French cheeses. There will be some light cooking and plating to be done, instructions are included and a video will be posted to show you how it’s done.

There are three take-out options here, available on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. BoSsam’s feast, a giant Andarl Farm pork shoulder with all the trimmings, to feed up to eight, sold out this week, but Higgins Butchers’ meal côte de boeuf for two (€ 65) and the smoked pork belly for two (€ 50), both three-course banquets, are still available. From the same restaurant stable, the Featherblade Bacon Cheeseburger Box was one of the big hits of the spring close, and will be available to go next week.

There are a few options to choose from here, including a set menu that changes weekly for one (€ 32), congratulations on offering a solo meal, or two (€ 62); a côte de boeuf meal for two (€ 76); a plate of salumi and sandwiches for two (€ 15), or the restaurant’s signature dessert, prunes in red wine and vanilla mascarpone (€ 7). Orders are taken online and can be picked up Thursday through Saturday, 3 pm-7pm. They will even deliver your order to the trunk of your car if you stop at the corner of Ely Place and call them on 01-6788872.

Pickup spaces are filling up fast for this one, so you’ll need to plan ahead if you’re going to buy one of the signature fish and seafood dishes for two (€ 64), especially on weekends. However, not only fish is offered here, much of the menu of the popular neighborhood restaurant is available to go, and is on sale Tuesday through Sunday, from 1 pm to 9 pm.

You’ll have to wait until next week to order the roast of all the bells and whistles in a box from the Asador and Prado restaurants. Choose from a roast leg of lamb or a sirloin of veal, with honey-glazed carrots and parsnips, roast duck fat, snow peas, stuffing, sauce and horseradish cream. It will cost € 75 and will feed five to six people. Click and pick up Wednesday through Saturday, and delivery available on Friday. The surf n turf box (€ 59), developed during the spring close, is currently available to order online.

Here’s a full list of 30 menu items to choose from, including a children’s menu, and a special offer on Wednesdays of two starters, two main courses, two sides, and a bottle of house wine for € 60. Additionally, all wines are available at 50% of the restaurant list price. Pick-up and drop-off orders only in Malahide, available Wednesday to Sunday, 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

The food here is truly first class and the take out offer is excellent. It’s available by call and collect, and orders can also be placed via WhatsApp, with designated pickup times. The € 70 tasting menu for two includes a selection of kebab, Goan seafood curry, butter chicken, Urulai roast potatoes, pulao rice, garlic cilantro nan and gulab jamun for dessert.

Riba, Stillorgan

One of the first to adapt to takeout and delivery, Riba has a full menu available, but the star buy is the midweek special, fritto misto and fries, on sale only on Wednesdays and Thursdays. For € 14.50 you get chunks of cod, squid and prawns, in a light dough that miraculously stays crispy in its cardboard box, along with chips and two sauces, garlic aoili and honey ginger dip.

China Sichuan, Sandyford

This prominent Chinese restaurant considered reopening long-term and was due to reopen this week, for the first time since the close of March, when regional restrictions forced another delay. But its click-and-pick service, available Wednesday through Sunday, includes many of the customer’s favorites on the menu, as well as pantry items like homemade chili sauce and XO sauce, duck fat, and even strawberry and pepper marmalade. There is a complete restaurant experience, to go, offered at Woodruff. Sandwiches, entrees, main courses, sides and desserts can be ordered from a weekly changing menu available on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays. Nor is it a simplified version of the menu, for example this main dish of lamb rump mayonnaise, smoked shoulder, Castleruddery turnips baked in salt, kale, sweet corn, house cider sauce (€ 29).

Andy Noonan’s slow and low barbecue skills are legendary, and with his insistence on using only high-welfare free-range meats from the likes of Peter Hannan, Higgins Butchers, and FX Buckley, you know you’re in good hands when ordering from his. Try the Whole Hogg BBQ Box (€ 45) which serves two generously with Sugar Bone Bacon Ribs, Smoked Pork Shoulder, Pork Sausage, Grilled Flatbreads, Alabama White Sauce, BBQ Sauce, Chimichurri , pickled gherkins, sauerkraut, red onion pickles, sweet and spicy cole slaw, purple potato salad, tomato and bean salad, pickled zucchini, ricotta and honey, and canned lemon couscous with fresh herbs, raisins and almonds toasts.

At Mamo on Howth, the hatch is reopened for collection of previously reserved meals. Wild halibut, cauliflower, capers and prawns (€ 20) and Veal Wellington with rosemary and garlic potatoes (€ 65 for two), are among the five main dishes, and there are also snacks, starters, main dishes and desserts. His signature ‘chip chip’ is on the snack menu, along with oxtail croquettes, both at € 6 for three pieces. It is likely that croquettes, or rather croquettes, also appear in the click and collection menu of Las Tapas de Lola, which is currently under development.

Yamamori should be celebrating 25 years in business in Dublin, a milestone the city-center chain of three restaurants reached last month. Instead, all three are open for online ordering for pickup and delivery within 4km, if you need a fix of sushi or noodles. Virtually the entire menu is available to go.
