Dublin politician criticizes on social networks the ‘sick’ images of a 5 euro bill manipulated with an offensive slogan

The image of a € 5 banknote manipulated with the slogan “house Irish first” has sparked massive fury among social media users.

The photo of the bill with the offending phrase was posted by Councilman Anthony Flynn on Twitter.

The North Inner City councilor said on social media: “What kind of sick does this do?”

And the tweet received a huge public response, with hundreds of people logging in to register their dislike of the message contained in the note, the Irish Mirror reports.

One urged the “keyboard warriors” behind the message to “get a life,” and praised Cllr Flynn for his work with the homeless in Dublin.

“Solidarity Anthony, you are so right that we must address everyone’s housing needs,” wrote another viewer.

A third added: “Fair play to you @AnthonyICHH In one day you do more to help the homeless than all these keyboard warriors have ever done.

“Xenophobia has no place in Ireland and those who think they do are deliberately ignoring the history of the Irish diaspora.”

Cllr Flynn has long been an outspoken activist on the homeless and a frequent critic of the government’s record on the issue.

Last month, after a beating of horror left the residents of Dublin’s East Wall terrified, he criticized the unacceptable “lack of response of the Gardai to violence.”

The next morning, on a visit to the area, the councilor says he saw no visible police presence and spoke to a Garda chief who told him that the Gardai “were not available to enter the area this morning.”

“It is completely unacceptable that there is no reaction from Gardai in terms of firstly a demonstration of police presence and secondly in terms of community support,” Cllr Flynn told the Irish Mirror.

“Gardai should have been at the scene this morning to allay or reduce everyone’s fears. That did not happen.

“I spoke with the chief, and unfortunately Gardai was not available to come to the area this morning.

“For me, that says we don’t have adequate resources in the area.”
