Dublin immunology professor believes everyone should cover their faces

A leading expert says recommending that people wear facial covers is “obvious.”

Health officials are expected to require people to use them in some stores and on public transportation when restrictions are eased.

However, they don’t want the public to rush into buying medical-style masks now, to make sure there’s enough for health workers.

Kingston Mills, a professor of immunology at Trinity College Dublin, believes that everyone should cover their faces to try to limit the spread of Covid 19.

He says, “The face masks to me are obvious. There is absolutely no reason why we shouldn’t all be wearing covers or face masks when we go to the stores.

“Or if we go back to work and go to work in reasonably close proximity to others.”

Yesterday, the Government announced a gradual approach to get out of the coronavirus blockade across the country.

Starting on Tuesday, Ireland will cautiously re-emerge from the total blockade, but after two more weeks of “strict restrictions”, the lifting of the restrictions will begin in five phases.
