The owner of a Dublin beauty salon that reportedly reopened despite coronavirus restrictions has been arrested

The owner of C and N Beauty Rooms in Balbriggan said she could no longer survive without earning a living.

It is alleged that the salon has reopened today.

Gardaí arrived shortly afterwards and arrested a woman who was inside the premises.

After a short discussion, the owner was also arrested and taken into Garda custody.

Talking to Newstalk yesterday, the owner said it was reopening, “purely to survive.”

“I have to do what I have to do to pay my bills and that is what is important to me,” he said.

“I have to put food on the table. I have to pay the rent. All my bills must be paid.

“What is happening is not preventing my bills from arriving, so I have to pay them. So yeah, what I do is just to survive. “

A sign in the window said that the reopening was “absolutely necessary” and insisted that the Constitution recognizes the right to earn a living.

Gardaí said they continue to take the ‘Four Es’ approach to policing public health regulations: “involve, explain, encourage and, as a last resort, enforce.”
