The Garda Commissioner is restricting their movements following contact with a Garda officer who subsequently tested positive for Covid-19.
Drew Harris has been working from home for the past few days due to the 14-day self-isolation requirement.
They tested him over the weekend, but he tested negative for coronavirus.
The officer was asymptomatic when he had an individual meeting with the commissioner at Garda headquarters.
He is now on sick leave.
Members of his unit’s garda who were close contacts with the officer are also restricting his movements and working from home.
Garda headquarters said they were also tested and tested negative.
The commissioner’s last public event was last Wednesday when he launched Operation Fanacht.
In a statement tonight, Garda headquarters said: “After a socially distant meeting late last week between the Garda Commissioner and another person who tested positive for Covid-19 a few days later, Commissioner Harris took the Covid-19 test on the weekend.
“The test was negative.
“In accordance with public health guidelines, since he was informed of this close contact, the commissioner has been restricting his movements, but continues to carry out his duties.
The public health advice regarding the use of masks and hand sanitizer was also followed at this meeting.
“Separately, after being identified as ‘close contacts’ to a positive Covid-19 case, several other members are currently ‘restricting movement’ in accordance with HSE public health guidelines.”
