Dr. Tony Holohan Issues A Message To The Public On Awareness Of The Latest Public Health Tips

The medical director warned that everyone should “be aware of the actions to take” in the event they develop symptoms of Covid-19.

Dr. Tony Holohan said that people also need to know what to do if they are seen as a close contact to suppress the spread of the deadly virus.

He was speaking when Ireland recorded six more deaths, along with 675 new cases on Wednesday.

And while infection levels have clearly declined in recent days, he urged the importance of staying informed on the latest public health advice.

Dr. Holohan said: “Everyone should be aware of the actions to take if they have symptoms or are waiting for a test or are a contact for a confirmed case.

“If you have symptoms of COVID-19, you should isolate yourself and call your GP for more advice.

“If you’ve been referred for a test or are waiting for a test result, you need to isolate yourself.

“If it is a confirmed case of COVID-19, it must isolate itself for 10 days.

“If you are identified or have been identified as a close contact of a confirmed case, you must restrict your movements.

The latest figures were announced by the Health Department earlier tonight.

Dublin has once again registered the highest number of new cases in the country with 199, followed by Cork with 104.

While 67 were reported in Meath, 50 in Limerick, 41 in Kildare, and the remaining 214 cases are spread across 20 other counties.

As of 2:00 p.m. today, 328 Covid-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 41 are in the ICU. There were 19 additional hospitalizations in the past 24 hours.
