Dr. Tony Holohan gives a sincere opinion if the Irish can travel on Ryanair and other airlines in July

Dr. Tony Holohan does not anticipate that non-essential travel outside of Ireland will be allowed in early July.

Ryanair announced today that the airline will restore 1,000 daily flights from July 1, covering 90% of its normal routes.

However, Medical Director Dr. Holohan, while not commenting specifically on Ryanair, said he cannot see the flight return to normal in July.

Dr. Holohan said: “I am not commenting on Ryanair particularly, but our position at the moment is that we are discouraging any non-essential travel, I do not anticipate that position will have changed in that time period.”

“Now we accept that in July and August the load factors will be lower than that, but we do not need social distancing, in fact, the (British) government has already recommended that where social distancing is not possible, use face masks.”

“That is the effective measure against the spread of COVID-19, not ineffective measures like a 14-day isolation that no one will observe anyway.”
