Dr. Hilary Jones criticized the ridiculous “social distancing” suggestions for workers and warned of a “second wave” amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The 66-year-old television doctor appeared on Good Morning Britain today while discussing concerns about the safety of workplaces.
Employers have been urged to stagger shift schedules, maximize work at home, and stop hot desks.
When host Ben Shephard asked him today if he agreed that the two-meter gap was “a bit arbitrary” and that “no real science” is what we need.
However, Dr. Hilary replied firmly, “I cannot agree with that.
“Listen, we’ve been telling people to walk away socially for six weeks, the blockade has worked quite well.
“We are not out of the woods yet and the idea of narrowing our two meters away for 15 minutes to sitting next to someone for eight hours a day, just a meter away, seems like a ridiculous step right now when ‘I’ve done it very well for the last six weeks.
“I think we will still need to maintain social distancing and if people need to go to work they should be safe, I agree.
“I think we will have to stagger work hours and shifts, we will have to keep people quite separate.
“We will have to make sure that they have a full keyboard wash and whatever they use at the factory, plenty of hand sanitizer and let’s never forget how important it is to wash your hands frequently.
“We need to do all of that, otherwise we will get a second peak.”
* Good morning Great Britain airs Monday through Friday at 6 a.m. on ITV
