DOMINIC West’s wife, Catherine Fitzgerald, may have been smiling sweetly at the photo opportunity of the couple today, but she “won’t take any shit,” her friends say.
Today’s public display of unity came after her passionate embrace with Lily James, but Catherine is said to be “privately mad” at her husband.

“There are some difficult conversations, but they will take place behind closed doors,” a friend of the couple told the Daily Mail.
“For now, he was happy to show a show of unity and will always put his family first.”
Another old acquaintance of the couple said: “I saw those photos today. I don’t know what’s going on. Catherine is very direct. No nonsense with her.
“She’s always been kind and sweet, but she doesn’t take nonsense. I think anyone who knows her would say that. She’s a great person. I just hope she’s okay.”

Earlier today, Dominic kissed his wife Catherine outside their home and insisted that they would not be separated after he was photographed with his co-star Lily.
Speaking at his Wiltshire cabin, the actor said: “I just want to say that our marriage is strong and that we are still together.”

However, he did not appear to be wearing his wedding ring and Catherine had her ring finger stuck in her pocket.
The 50-year-old star had been spotted kissing her 31-year-old co-star Lily James on a romantic getaway in Rome over the weekend.
The pair star together in an adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s novel The Pursuit Of Love.
The actor’s wife, 49, had a handkerchief in her hand and the handwritten note, which he read to the press.

In a show of unity, West kissed her, though he kept his hands firmly in his pockets.
The couple, who married in Ireland in 2010, kissed for several seconds as the cameras clicked.

West flew home to discuss a crisis at his £ 1.8 million country home last night after the footage came out.
They had photographed him stroking James’s hair as they enjoyed lunch together and smiled at the brunette beauty before leaning in to kiss him.
They were also seen riding around Rome together, enjoying the views sharing an electric scooter.

A friend of Catherine’s said yesterday that they rushed to West’s family home to comfort the actor’s wife, who was said to be “devastated.”
They explained: “She’s totally shocked because she didn’t know anything was wrong.
“They were very close, so this is completely unexpected. She thought they had a good marriage and now it’s probably over.”
