Dermot O’Leary breaks silence on replacing Eamonn and Ruth on This Morning

Dermot O’Leary has spoken out on rumors that he and Alison Hammond will replace Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford on This Morning.

The former X Factor host said he enjoyed hosting ITV’s hit mid-morning show during the show and that he hopes to land the concert in the future.

However, Dermot said things are “complicated” because this move involves colleagues and friends and nothing has been confirmed yet.

Dermot said, “Of course. I hope so, but like you said, it’s always tricky when colleagues and friends are involved.”

Dermot was asked if we would see him more on This Morning during an interview on Ireland AM during the week.

He explained: “Nothing is confirmed yet, but you know, we enjoy doing the summer so we would like to do more.

“But at the same time, you don’t want to trample anyone or treat anyone badly.

“So you’re always caught between a rock and a hard place in that kind of thing.”

There is much speculation that Dermot and Alison will host This Morning every Friday, replacing Eamonn and Ruth.

Regular hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield would continue as normal Monday through Thursday.

Eamonn and Ruth have been silent on the news so far, but a spokesperson for This Morning dismissed reports that new additions to the introductory lineup had been announced.

The rep praised Holly, Phillip, Ruth, and Eamonn for their work on the show before adding that any new additions would be announced in the future.

“We have a stellar performance lineup on This Morning at Holly & Phillip and Eamonn & Ruth,” they told Digital Spy.

“Any additions to this lineup will be announced in due course.”

This comes after Dermot and Alison had a successful stint on the show over the summer.

Ireland AM airs seven days a week on Virgin Media One
