DENNIS Rodman has revealed how he participated in his friend Kim Jong-un’s secret hideout, with the help of copious “beauties and vodka.”
The basketball legend, now 59, consolidated his bromance with Kim while he was the United States’ ambassador to North Korea in 2013.
Jong-un initially wanted Dennis’ former Chicago Bulls teammate Michael Jordan, but rejected the North Korean leader.
And thanks to this whim of fate, Rodman would become the guest of the partygoers’ autocrat.
He said: “I have seen the army, I have seen the missiles, I have seen everything.”
The 58-year-old described their first meeting on Mike Tyson’s podcast, Hotboxin ‘.
When he arrived in North Korea, the security presence made him feel as if he had been arrested.
But little did he know that he was on his way to meet the mysterious man Kim Jong-un himself.
Upon reaching a basketball court, he was led to a long row of king-style chairs.
He said, “The next thing I know, 22,000 North Koreans stand up and start clapping.
“It was loud applause and they are cheering and I think they did it for me.”
“Then I say hello and someone says, ‘No, that’s for him,’ and points to Kim Jong Un.
“I asked ‘Who is that guy?’ and they said ‘that’s our leader’ so I asked … ‘leader of what? “
We’re going to have dinner tonight, a little karaoke and a little vodka, some beauties and things like that.
Kim Jong-un
Soon it was the company of Kim, who spoke through interpreters.
Rodman said: “He asked ‘Do you like my country?’ and I said ‘yes, it’s fine, it’s fine, it’s fine.’ “
The dictator told him: “We asked Michael Jordan to come, but he did not come, so we asked him.”
The two immediately bonded over their shared passion for basketball.
And when it was time to leave, the North Korean leader invited him to his lair for a wild Kim-Jong-un-style night party.
Kim said to Rodman: “We’ll have dinner tonight, a little karaoke and have vodka, some beauties and things like that”.
Rodman said, “The next thing I know, we are having dinner and we are drunk as an idiot, he starts singing karaoke and I have no idea what the hell he is talking about.
“Everyone starts clapping and then this 18-piece girl band comes out and these girls are great but they only played one song.”
“Just a crappy song. It was the Dallas theme.”
Rodman’s bonding session with Kim paved the way for several more visits to North Korea.
In 2019, he approached President Trump to allow him to intervene to strengthen diplomatic ties to the pariah state amid mounting tensions over his nuclear ambitions.
Last week, Rodman gave his verdict after weeks of frantic speculation about the dictator’s health after claims he was dead or seriously ill after heart surgery.
It came after the North Korean state media released images of Kim with a strange “needle mark” on her wristAlthough the lack of something to date means that the rumors have not gone to bed.
Rodman said he does not believe reports that his friend was disabled.
The he told the New York Post: “It probably wasn’t much.
“I have gone to dinner with dignitaries there who were reportedly dead here.
“I don’t believe the North Korean news until I hear it from your side.
“I think the fact that they keep to themselves in many ways gives the media the ability to run rumors at times.”
