GARDAI is investigating whether a Pole whose body was found in his room was involved in an altercation in the run-up to his death.
The horror discovery was made at a home in the Ballastown area of Lusk Co Dublin on Wednesday.
The police continue to treat the case as “inexplicable”, but do not believe that his death was natural or self-inflicted.
One line of investigation that the Gardai follow is that the man may have been involved in a physical altercation at some point before his death and whether or not that may have contributed to his sudden death.
POST MORTEM
The dead man, in his 50s, was last seen alive Monday night.
An autopsy was performed on Thursday, the results of which are not made public.
A source said: “It is still an inexplicable death. But there are circumstances that worry the Gardai. “
Another source added: “There could have been an altercation at some point before his death. But if that is the case, gardai will have to establish when it happened and if it contributed to the death of this individual. “
The dead man worked as a laborer and had no other family in Ireland.
Gardai was trying tonight to contact relatives in his native Poland and a family liaison officer has been appointed for the case.
PRESERVED SCENE
The scene remained preserved today, where the Garda Technical Office and the Division’s Crime Scenes team surveyed the area.
The police have established an incident room at Balbriggan Garda station, where a senior investigating officer has been appointed.
Several witness statements have already been given and detectives are examining CCTV.
Local independent secretary Cathal Boland told the Irish Sun: “It is heartbreaking and shocking for the area that someone has died in tragic circumstances.
“While there are no great details about the circumstances, I am aware of the fact that the Gardai are looking for someone to help them.
“Anyone with information should contact the local guards and pass on everything they know.
“My thoughts are with the family. Anyone who dies in tragic circumstances, there is always sadness for the people left behind, but if it is an inexplicable death, it becomes much more stressful. “
Gardai is looking to speak to anyone with information in connection with this investigation, as well as any motorist who may have dashcam footage and who were in or around the Ballastown, Lusk, Co. Dublin area between Monday 1 March and 5 pm on Wednesday, March 3. .
Anyone with information is asked to contact Balbriggan Garda Station 01-6664500, Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111, or any Garda station.
