A man died and an 11-year-old boy is fighting for his life after a garbage truck crashed into a house and several cars this morning.

The accident took place around 8 a.m. today in the Kidbrooke area of Greenwich, London, where six people were reportedly injured.

Authorities confirmed that the truck driver died at the scene and another person was taken to the hospital by air ambulance, Mirror.co.uk reports.

A woman who lives nearby said: “We only heard the carnage. I was in bed asleep when I heard this great crash.

“I didn’t really think about that, as there has been construction going on all night long. But then it was one siren after another and the helicopter landing.

“I left around 9 in the morning and I knew it was serious when I saw the huge cordon. This truck crashed into the house and took two cars with it.”

Mother of two, Toni Pankhurst, 42, who lives nearby, said: “They woke me up like I was the Blitz. There was a massive bang and then the sound of the helicopter flying overhead.”

“I felt like it was going to land on my roof and it was shaking the whole house.

“We ran out and saw a man being carried on a stretcher.

Then another man who was in his 50s and bald was taken to an ambulance with all this blood running down his face. He looked so pale.

“It’s a huge green truck and it looks like it’s actually embedded in the house.

“There are at least five other wrecked vehicles scattered about a kilometer down the road.

“It seemed like they were all parked and the truck had totaled everything in its path.

“I don’t know how it happened, maybe the driver had a heart attack.

“I hope everyone involved is okay, but it doesn’t seem hopeful.”
