Love was in the air at Dublin’s Pearse station last night, when DART host Paula Carbó Zea was greeted with a marriage proposal from her partner when she stopped on the platform at the end of her shift.

The happy couple have been overwhelmed with warm wishes since the moment was widely shared on social media.

His partner Conor O’Sullivan was waiting anxiously on the platform, with flowers and an engagement ring, to find out if he was on board to marry him.

“While the train was coming, I was nervous and shaking, I was jumping up and down trying to relax, I was very tense, a lot of people had stopped and started looking and taking out cameras and when she got on I managed to see her on the train and it just flowed after that, “he said.

And, most importantly, it was a yes from Paula!

Ms. Carbó Zea said that she initially did not realize the question “Do you want to marry me?” banners on the platform.

My first reaction was ‘I’ll kill him !!’

“So I just saw big white boards, because far away you can’t really see anything else. Then I saw a lot of personnel on the platform and a lot of people and I thought what’s going on?

“When I was getting closer I read” Will you marry me? “And then I saw Conor on the platform waiting for me with the flowers and the ring,” he said.

“My first reaction was ‘I’m going to kill him !!'” said Ms. Carbó Zea.

However, he said that the entire proposal was amazing.

“The passengers were clapping and the people were on the platform. It was so nice,” he said.

One of the passengers waiting on the platform, midwife Clodagh Maher, shared a video of the proposal on Twitter and said she encouraged her “after a busy 13-hour shift.”

There is no date set for the wedding yet, but Carbó Zea said she hopes to get married in Barcelona.

For now, it’s full steam ahead for this happy couple in 2021.
