A father of two has died after an alleged assault early Sunday morning.

Mark Loughlin, who was known to his peers as Yob, was found unconscious on a road in Allenwood South, Co Kildare, at 3.49 am.

Gardai is investigating a series of incidents that occurred in the lead up to the 29-year-old’s discovery, who was from Edenderry in Co Offaly.

Robertstown officers were called into a law enforcement incident in the Allenwood South area around midnight, where they found a silver Audi that was reportedly collided with a red Renault Trafic pickup.

After arriving at the scene, no complaint was made to Gardai and the two vehicles were stopped for forensic examinations.

At 3.49 am, the Gardai were called into a raid on Allenwood South, where they found the victim unconscious on the road.

The emergency services administered cardiopulmonary resuscitation and took him by ambulance to Naas General Hospital, but he was later pronounced dead at the scene.

The road where the incident occurred was still covered in debris yesterday afternoon and properties along it were cordoned off with Garda tape.

Micheal O’Kelly, who lives on the road, said his family heard “a lot of roaring and screaming” around 1.45 am.

He added: “We could hear a lot of hits and names.

“It was like something crashed or hit.

“The guards had been here before, but they came back then and the helicopter was here over our house for about 20 minutes.”

O’Kelly said a silver Audi car, of which the Gardai are requesting information about the movement, had been parked at the top of the road in Allenwood South for the night.

The vehicle can also be clearly seen in the CCTV footage passing by his home at 12:52 am

O’Kelly revealed that CCTV shows a car traveling down the highway at around 1.30am.

Two men are also seen running down the road and one of them turns around.

At 4.29 a.m. M., The ambulance arrives and leaves again with an escort from the garda at 4.52 a.m. M.

The victim, who was known to Gardai, had been jailed in February last year for hitting a 16-year-old girl on the head in her hometown of Edenderry.

He had recently welcomed a girl and was also the father of a boy. Gardai has asked members of the public to submit any information related to the incidents.
