Crumlin Gardai Launches Witness Appeal After Bomb Disposal Unit Called To Deal With Suspicious Device

Gardai has launched an appeal to witnesses after a controlled explosion was carried out on a suspicious device in Crumlin this morning.

The explosive was discovered around 9:20 a.m. at the entrance to Rafter’s Avenue, off the busy Crumlin Road.

Local homes were evacuated and traffic detours were set up after Gardai found what they believed to be an improvised explosive device.

The Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal conducted a controlled explosion on the device.

A garda spokeswoman said the device and its contents are now subject to a technical examination.

She added: “Gardaí is appealing to anyone who may have information in relation to this incident.

“Anyone in the vicinity of Rafter’s Avenue between 9:00 p.m. Last night, Wednesday, September 9, and 9:00 a.m. This morning, Thursday, September 10, who you have noticed any unusual activity, you should report. “

“Similarly, any motorist who has been driving in the area between 9:00 PM last night and 9:00 AM is requested.

“Anyone with information should call the Crumlin Garda station on 01 666 6200 or the confidential Garda line at 1800 666 111.”
