Justice Minister restricts movements due to Covid fears
Justice Minister Helen McEntee is restricting her movements after coming into “close contact” with someone who has shown symptoms of Covid-19.
A spokesperson for Ms McEntee confirmed to the Mirror: “The minister is restricting her movements due to being a close contact of someone who undergoes a Covid test after showing symptoms.”
McEntee recently announced that she is expecting her first baby.
The news comes after Taoiseach Micheál Martin awaits the result of a Covid-19 test after attending a meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron last week, who has since tested positive for Covid-19.
Martin attended a meeting of the European Council last Thursday and Friday with Macron.
The Taosieach is expected to obtain their test result later and has postponed the scheduled commitments for this afternoon.
A spokesman for Martin told the Irish Mirror: “The Taoiseach is limiting their contacts this afternoon following the news of the positive test result from Macron and we are going to do so immediately and that should be reversed in the next few hours.
“So we should have the result this afternoon, in the meantime he is limiting his contacts.
“There were some commitments that we will postpone this afternoon, they have been delayed.
“He limits himself to making calls, but he does not meet anyone and limits his contacts until the result arrives.”
