A confirmed case of Covid-19 has been detected in another school in Cork.

Follow confirmed cases earlier in the day at Douglas Community School, Penneys at Wilton Mall and Care Choice Nursing Home in Montenotte.

Parents of Coachford College students received a text message from the principal Tuesday afternoon, informing them that a case had been confirmed at the school.

Echo understands that the school is communicating with the HSE.

A nursing home in Montenotte, on the north side of Cork City, has confirmed an incidence of Covid 19 at its facilities through “proactive testing”.

Care Choice says that in the interests of residents and their families, they will not provide the exact number of positive cases at the site.

In a statement, the house said they are in contact with the HSE and continue to follow all the HSE and WHO protocols.

Management says they continue to take care of residents and staff to the best of their ability. They are ensuring that they are fully staffed and that they have the proper personal protective equipment.

The home has thanked all its staff for their “tireless care and commitment to residents.”

They also commend family members for their support and understanding, particularly in relation to visitation restrictions during the Covid-19 crisis.

Meanwhile, separate management at Penneys at the Wilton Mall in Cork indicated that a staff member tested positive for Covid-19. The store has been thoroughly cleaned.

Management says nothing is more important than the safety and well-being of its customers.

“We have detailed contingency plans in place in the event one of our employees tests positive.”

Douglas Community School in Cork City has also confirmed two cases of Covid-19.

In a letter from HSE to parents it was stated that the transmission link was identified outside of the school. The two cases are also linked.

A public health risk assessment has been carried out. Parents of the children who are considered close contacts of the confirmed cases have been contacted and informed accordingly.
