White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows organized a grand wedding for his daughter in May, amid a ban on gatherings of more than 10 people, US media reported.

The wedding took place in Atlanta, Georgia, on May 31 and was attended by about 70 guests, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution first reported.

Photos from the event show large numbers of people socializing very closely, with no one wearing masks.

The president of the event manager said he had met the guidelines.

Myrna Antar of Novare Events said the company had complied with Georgia Governor Brian Kemp’s order that allowed 10 people for every 300 square feet (28 square meters).

“And while we do not comment on customer events, we can confirm that the 16,000 square feet of space was reserved for this small wedding, greatly exceeding the square footage per person allowed by the order,” he said.

Mike Moon, a photographer for Ember Studio, who photographed the event, told the New York Times that people working at the event wore masks, but most of the guests did not.

Meadows has yet to comment on the reports.
