Statement on behalf of the Mullingar Regional Hospital, September 25, 2020

Mullingar Regional Hospital can confirm a Covid-19 outbreak in a Hospital ward notified on Friday, September 25, and that several patients have tested positive for Covid-19.

The room is closed to new admissions, registrations and transfers. The patients in the ward will continue with their care and treatments.

In accordance with HPSC guidelines, the Hospital Outbreak Control Team has been convened and is conducting testing and contact tracing of both staff and patients to ensure public health protection.

Personnel identified as close contacts isolate themselves.

The hospital wishes to assure staff and patients that appropriate measures have been taken in accordance with national guidelines. Key contacts at the Hospital have been provided to staff and patients should any concerns need to be addressed.

Protecting public health is of the utmost importance to the hospital and every effort is being made to reduce the spread of Covid-19 at this time.
