According to experts, the Covid-19 situation in Ireland is rapidly spiraling out of control as additional restrictions loom.
The Health Department confirmed another 582 cases tonight with six more deaths in the last 24 hours.
Ireland’s Christmas break due to restrictions will be shortened and the New Year appears to be spent again in near lockdown conditions.

Dr. Tony Holohan says rapid deterioration is worse than expected
The rapid deterioration of the Covid-19 situation has surprised even Dr. Tony Holohan and his team of experts, it revealed tonight.
With a recommendation that is expected to close the hospitality sector soon, the medical director warned that the vaccine will not be very good for our vulnerable people if they die before it arrives.
In a stark warning, Dr. Holohan said: “Over the past week, we have expressed significant concern that the level of infection was deteriorating day by day. Today’s data adds more evidence that the situation is worsening more rapidly. than we expected.
“The country simply cannot cope with this level of infection as we approach Christmas week. With vaccines offering hope in the coming months for our most vulnerable groups, we want to keep them alive and healthy so they can receive it.”
“Each of us must do everything possible to protect public health: cut your contacts, see only those you need to see. Choose to socialize safely, outdoors if possible. If you see a crowd, avoid it.
“By choosing to act safely now, together we can limit the impact this disease will have in the weeks and months ahead, and by doing so we can protect the vulnerable and prevent unnecessary deaths.”
Pubs and restaurants will close at 11pm on Christmas
Parties in restaurants and pubs after 11pm will be prohibited this Christmas.
And going out to celebrate late at night on St. Stephen or celebrate the New Year are definitely not runners, if the government hasn’t shut down all hospitality by then.
Failure to comply could result in gardaí entering the compound to enforce the law.
The Department of Tourism has confirmed to the Irish Mirror that all restaurants in the country must have their homes cleared by 11:30 pm every night during the holidays.

Martin said these restrictions will relate to the hospitality sector and inter-county travel “but non-essential retail stores would be allowed to remain open.”
He said: “There will be a cabinet meeting on Tuesday to discuss NPHET’s advice regarding restrictions that will be introduced before New Year’s Eve and that would relate in particular to hospitality and inter-county travel.”
“But nonessential retail would be allowed to continue to open up.
“I think the key point is that this virus spreads very quickly and when it reaches a certain level, it spreads exponentially.”
