Covid-19 Ireland lockdown update: Dr Tony Holohan is latest as county causes concern

Dr. Tony Holohan has highlighted a county of concern when he gave his latest update on our Level Five lockdown.

We are now at the midpoint of the restrictions due to be lifted on December 1.

And the medical director has said he is “optimistic and hopeful” that he is in a position to recommend that the blockage be eased.

However, the decision will not be made until an NPHET meeting on November 26.

Dr Holohan said last night: “I think we need to focus on staying where we are, we have seen significant improvement in disease patterns here.

“We will be formally considering where we are from an epidemiological perspective when the National Public Health Emergency Team meets this day in two weeks.

“That is only two weeks. That is when we will be doing a formal epidemiological evaluation that will be the basis of the advice that we will be giving the Government, through the Minister of Health, on what will be the appropriate measures in public health.” reasons from December 1 if a change is warranted at that time.

But the CMO also issued a cautionary note that there was still work to be done, particularly in Donegal, where the coronavirus rate remains stubbornly high.

He added: “We still have several weeks between now and the end of the month. Obviously some places are seeing higher levels of transmission. We have seen that we have higher levels in Donegal, although it has dropped a bit. It has not experienced the same level of transmission. reduction experienced by the rest of the country.
