Three counties are at risk of new restrictions after a surge in coronavirus cases.
Currently, all of Ireland is at level three of the government’s Living with Covid plan.
However, Donegal, Monaghan and Cavan are the border counties facing a possible move to Level Four in the coming days.
Tanaiste Leo Varadkar confirmed this morning that more restrictions will be considered in these areas and even suggested that a decision could be made today.
As it stands, NPHET will meet Thursday to make an additional recommendation to the government.
According to the roadmap, only essential businesses and services will be open at Level Four. There can be no visitors to private homes and social gatherings will not be allowed.
However, there are no changes to the rules governing bars and restaurants with alcoholic beverages, where al fresco dining is still allowed for a maximum of 15 guests.
