Another Irish nursing home has announced 30 new cases of Covid-19.

Brindley Manor Nursing Home in Convoy, Co Donegal, made the disturbing announcement early Wednesday morning.

Residents now isolate themselves in their rooms, according to public health councils.

A Family Liaison Officer is helping residents’ families.

The house is still operational, but has introduced a visitation ban.

It’s the second major group at a care facility to be advertised in the past 24 hours, after a Laois nursing home confirmed 31 positive tests Tuesday.

A spokeswoman said: “Brindley Manor Nursing Home, Convoy, Co Donegal has 30 confirmed cases of Covid-19. Family members of our residents have been contacted to inform them of the situation. We are unable to comment on the status of these cases, as they are matters related to personal health.

“A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed who will collaborate with the families of our residents to provide regular updates on the status of the health, well-being and care of their loved ones.

“In accordance with public health protocols and guidelines, residents who tested positive for the virus are isolated in their rooms. Our Director of Nursing is leading the nursing home care team and is working closely with Public Health and our Medical Director to ensure that all appropriate measures are in place to contain the virus.

“We would like to thank all of our staff for their dedication, selfless efforts, and tireless work. We would also like to acknowledge the tremendous support provided by Public Health, HSE, Infection Control and our lead inspector at HIQA. “

She added: “Brindley Manor Nursing Home is a highly regarded and long established nursing home in East Donegal, it has played an integral part of the local community for two decades.

“The Brindley Manor Nursing Home remains fully operational, but is closed to non-essential visitors in accordance with Level 3 government restrictions.”
