Dr. Tony Holohan, Medical Director.

Of the current figures, 186 are men and 230 are women, while 64% are under 45 years of age.

The average age of those diagnosed is 34 years.

The news comes after Dr. Tony Holohan praised the efforts of the Irish as positive signs of Covid-19 start to emerge.

The medical director noted that Ireland has the best seven-day incidence rate in Europe according to the latest figures from the World Health Organization.

However, the doctor also warned that it is too early to stop now.

Dr. Holohan tweeted: “We are making progress on # COVID-19 – We follow public health advice. Especially young people.

“Best EU country at most recent 7-day rates. But, too early to stop. Rates are still going up at> 65 and haven’t gone down in Dublin. We have to keep it up.”
