Two staff members tested positive for Covid-19 at a Tipperary nursing home.
Positive results followed staff testing at Greenhill Nursing Home in Carrick-on-Suir on Monday, September 28.
When the results were released, public health measures, including isolation of staff, were implemented with immediate effect.
The Carrick-on-Suir Nursing Home follows the advice of HSE, the National Public Health Emergency Team led by Acting Medical Director Dr. Ronan Glynn of the Irish Department of Health and Nursing Homes.
Visits to the nursing home have been suspended for a period of 14 days. “The key consideration in this regard is to mitigate the transmission of the virus from the community to the nursing home. Visits are suspended until October 12 and we will continue to communicate any updates on this to resident representatives,” said Director of Nursing Shona O ‘Brien said in a letter to relatives.
“Please be assured that we remain committed to providing all of our residents with the best possible care during this health emergency. We are working closely with HSE and public health colleagues to protect residents from the virus and support their health care needs. The Greenhill Nursing Home staff is working hard to ensure that residents receive excellent care. We recognize that not having contact in person will be extremely difficult and we will be facilitating remote contact to support the engagement between you and your loved one.
“The ethics and values at Greenhill Nursing Home remain the same and we are committed to providing all residents with comfort and peace of mind. You will appreciate that great sacrifices have to be made within nursing homes to protect the most vulnerable and we at Greenhill Nursing Home are no different, “added Ms. O’Brien.
