A man and a woman were attacked in their own home by two armed thugs during a gruesome night raid in the center of the southern city.
Gardai is launching an investigation after the chilling scenes that occurred in a house in Merton Park in Dublin 8.
The two gunmen entered the home and assaulted the couple inside before fleeing the scene in a white Ford Transit van.
The man and woman were rushed to St James Hospital, where fortunately their injuries were described as non-fatal.
The incident took place between 11:15 a.m. and 11:45 p.m. on Saturday night.
Gardai is asking that witnesses who may have been in the area be contacted.
A statement from Garda read: “Gardai on Kevin Street is requesting witnesses in connection with an aggravated robbery incident that occurred in Merton Park, Dublin 8, at approximately 11:30 pm, November 21, 2020.
“Two armed men entered the Merton Park home and assaulted the occupants before leaving the site in a white van.
“A man and a woman were taken to St James Hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
“Witnesses are now being sought who may have been in the vicinity of Merton Park, Dublin 8 between 11:15 PM and 11:45 PM on November 21, 2020.
“Investigating Gardaí would also like to speak to anyone who may have dash cam footage and who were in the area around Merton Park commonly known as ‘Tenters’ and may have seen a small white Ford Transit Connect van, Partial registration 06D, with a roof rack in the Dublin 8 area, between 10:30 p.m. and midnight on November 21, 2020.
“Anyone with information can contact the Kevin Street Garda station on 01 666 9400 or the confidential Garda line at 1 800 666 111.”
