County-by-County Coronavirus Ireland Case Breakdown: 10 Counties See No Increase in 24 Hours

There have now been 1,458 deaths and 22,996 cases of coronavirus since the outbreak began in the Republic of Ireland.

Another 12 people have died from coronavirus in the last 24 hours with 236 more cases.

Today’s HPSC data, as of midnight on Friday, May 8 (22,671 cases), reveals:

· 57% are women and 43% are men

· The median age of confirmed cases is 49 years

2,986 cases (13%) have been hospitalized

· Of the hospitalized, 383 cases have been admitted to the ICU

· 6,771 cases are associated with health workers

· Dublin has the highest number of cases with 11,068 (49% of all cases) followed by Kildare with 1,324 cases (6%) and then Cork with 1,207 cases (5%)

· Of those for whom the transmission status is known: community transmission represents 61%, close contact accounts 36%, travel abroad represents 3%
