A north Dublin montessori was forced to temporarily shut down after a child tested positive for coronavirus.
An urgent letter sent by the Health Department on behalf of the preschool, seen by the Irish Mirror, explains that the HSE has contacted the parents of the children who are considered close contacts.
The confirmed case was in contact with other students just over a week ago.
Any other student who is not considered a close contact is not required to take a test.
But if any children at school develop symptoms similar to Covid, they are asked to contact their GP as soon as possible.
All confirmed close contacts were asked to restrict their movements for 14 days.
This means that they cannot attend school, use public transportation, receive visitors at home, or go to stores unless absolutely necessary.
However, siblings living in the same household are not required to stay home and not go to school.
On Wednesday, HSE Clinical Director Dr Colm Henry confirmed in a Health Department briefing that, at the time, 54 schools in Ireland had reported a confirmed case of coronavirus since reopening.
However, he emphasized that this was expected, and it is only a very small percentage of the thousands of schools in the country, most of which are currently running smoothly.
