Two health workers at St Luke’s Hospital in Kilkenny have died from Covid-19, the hospital confirmed.
A spokesperson for the Eastern Ireland Hospital Group said tonight that two St. Luke’s healthcare workers died after testing positive for coronavirus.

A comment to RTE said: “We wish to extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends and colleagues,” he said.
Health workers are understood to be a man and a woman who died in the past two days.
Meanwhile, eight residents of the same old-age unit died over Bank Holiday weekend after testing positive for Covid-19.
Residents of the Maryborough Elderly Psychiatry Center unit in Portlaoise, formerly St. Fintan Hospital, died over the three-day period.
HOME TRAGEDY
Another patient also died over the weekend, but had not received a positive result.
Residents were between 66 and 84 years old.
The HSE told RTÉ News that while several staff members are currently on sick leave, several additional workers were reassigned to the center in the week before Easter after Covid-19 was diagnosed at the center.
It is understood that there are twenty-eight beds in the center and that seventeen residents remain living there.
HSE said that all residents are being administered as if they were positive for Covid-19, regardless of test results.
HSE said in a statement: “HSE would like to express its sincere condolences to the families and friends of the deceased.”
BODY COUNT
This occurs when a 23 year old has died from Covid-19 in Ireland.
Speaking at tonight’s daily press conference, Dr. Tony Holohan said the oldest person to die was 105 years old.
Covid-19 killed 38 other people in Ireland in the past 24 hours.
The grim death toll in Ireland has now reached 444, up from 406 the night before.
A total of 657 new cases have been confirmed in Irish laboratories, while another 411 were confirmed by the accumulation of evidence sent to a German laboratory.
It means that the total number of confirmed cases in Ireland today is 1,068.
The total number of people who have tested positive for coronavirus is now 12,547.
Of today’s deaths, 29 were located in the east, six in the west, and three in the south.
