An employee of MCDONALD’S in Drogheda tested positive for Covid-19.
The fast food chain has said it is confident its public health measures will allow the restaurant to continue operating.
The part-time employee tested positive after attending an event after hours, according to the Irish Times.
They did not show any symptoms before they were tested for the virus.
McDonalds said all staff have been made aware of the case and the restaurant has been thoroughly cleaned as a precaution.
The employee is now in self-isolation.
A McDonald’s spokesperson said: “As soon as we were informed, an outside cleaning company conducted a deep cleaning of the restaurant and we contacted all the restaurant employees.
“We have a number of security measures in place to help keep our people safe, including Perspex screens, temperature controls at the beginning of each shift, keeping a two meter distance from others as much as possible, covering their faces , wash your hands regularly and use hand sanitizer. “
