LIDL Ireland has introduced special coupons for customers who cannot visit the store because they are isolating or protecting themselves from Covid-19.
Customers at risk can now purchase a € 200 Lidl Community gift card that can then be used by a family member, friend, or volunteer when purchasing the person taking refuge.

In a statement, the supermarket chain said: “As an essential service, our top priority for the past few weeks has been to continue serving the communities in which we operate with the food and other essential supplies they need at this difficult time.
“We are also aware that many of our regular shoppers are unable to frequent our stores at this time, as they are isolating and hiding in their homes.
“Fortunately, our team has been working in the background to develop a remote payment solution for vulnerable or at-risk customers.
“Starting Thursday, May 7, customers can purchase a Lidl Community gift card, worth up to € 200, by calling our hotline.
“They will then receive a code by email or text message that they can share with family, friends or a volunteer who can use this code to purchase their purchases at Lidl.”
Coupons can be purchased by calling the dedicated supermarket team at 1800 111 124, with lines open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. at 6 p.m.
Once the customer tells the team how much they want in the coupon and pays by card over the phone, Lidl will email the Community Gift Card.
The coupon can be shared with family, friends or a volunteer to buy at any of the 163 Lidl stores in Ireland.

Speaking about the new service, Aoife Clarke, Head of Communications for Lidl Ireland, said: ‘The past few months have been a whirlwind for everyone, but we are delighted to have been able to support our communities during this challenging time.
“Our teams have been working diligently to make shopping trips as safe as possible for both our customers and our courageous store teams and we are delighted to drive those efforts with the launch of our Lidl Community gift cards, which offer customers at risk a remote payment solution. “
The new service adds to the current priority shopping hours for older customers.
These are between 9am and 11am and include prioritized queues and additional assistance for our older clients.
In a statement on priority shopping hours, Lidl Ireland Managing Director J.P Scally said: “As members of the public, it is our responsibility to look after the most vulnerable in society in these difficult times.
“We ask our customers to be considerate and responsible when they shop with us and to respect this new measure that we are introducing to support the elderly, as there is enough stock in our supply chain for everyone.”
In addition, to support frontline healthcare workers, Lidl Ireland prioritizes them at all Lidl stores.
