Coronavirus in Ireland – Child under four years old diagnosed with Covid-19 fighting for life in ICU

A LITTLE BOY diagnosed with Covid-19 has been admitted to the ICU.

The boy, under the age of four, is the only person admitted to critical care since September 2.

According to figures released by HPSC, in the hours leading up to September 5, there was an additional admission to the ICU.

The patient was a child under the age of four, who now contributes to 0.22 percent of coronavirus cases admitted to ICU units.

Meanwhile, 129 patients are between 55 and 64 years old, 110 patients are between 65 and 74 and 93 are between 45 and 54 years old.

A total of eight ICU patients are under 25 years of age and 54 patients are 75 years or older.

As of September 5, there was one death of a Covid-19 patient under the age of 25 and a total of 19 patients under the age of 45 died.

While 798 patients with the virus 85 years and older have died.

COVID-19 CASES

The number of suspected Covid-19 cases in Irish hospitals increased by 24 overnight, while hospitals with confirmed cases dropped by two.

There are currently 48 confirmed coronavirus patients in 16 hospitals across the country.

Currently, five children are receiving treatment for the virus at CHI Crumlin and two at CHI Tallaght.

Zero counties have remained Covid-19 free in the past week, as Ireland sees 864 new cases overall.

Cases of the virus have skyrocketed in Dublin with 432 cases in the past seven days.

Dr. Ronan Glynn has expressed great concern for the capital and urged people to adhere to public health guidelines.
