Alex Gogic has confirmed that it was the Hibernian player who had the false positive test for Covid-19.

On Sunday, Hibs announced that a player would have to self-isolate for 10 days after providing an indicative positive test for coronavirus in the last 72 hours.

Midfielder Gogic since revealed on Twitter that it was his test, adding that he was disappointed to miss out on Sunday. Sky sports agree with Aberdeen since it subsequently tested negative.

“I’m very disappointed to miss a great game today, especially after my follow-up tests came back negative,” he said.

“Health comes first and luckily everyone in my house is negative too. Good luck to the boys. I’ll cheer you on from home. See you soon!”

To live

A statement from Hibernian read: “After a routine test round on Friday, a Hibernian player returned a result that required further investigation.

“This resulted in us canceling a training session scheduled for Saturday at the Hibernian Training Center, with subsequent tests for the individual involved performed the next day and reported as negative.

“However, the Scottish Football Association and the Scottish Government have advised the player to isolate himself for the next 10 days.

“The club has strictly adhered to all protocols and today’s game against Aberdeen will take place as planned.”
