Ireland announced 470 new cases of Covid-19 on Friday, bringing the total in the country to a shocking 37,063.
Dublin, Cork and Donegal were again hit the hardest by the second increase in progress, while Kildare and Limerick also released worrying figures.
Sadly, one more death was confirmed, bringing the total to 1,801 after six deaths were reported.
Four previously confirmed cases were also reported on Friday.
Of the new infections, 225 are men and 242 are women, while 68% are under 45 years of age.
A total of 68 were identified as community transmission, while 40% are associated with outbreaks or are close contacts of previously diagnosed cases.
Speaking about the numbers, the acting medical director said that the National Public Health Emergency Team is “seriously concerned” about the national landscape.
Dr. Ronan Glynn said: “The situation nationwide is a matter of great concern and NPHET now recommends that no more than two households meet at any one time.
“It is vital that everyone, families, friends and neighbors, limit the opportunities for this virus to pass from one person to another and stop the spread of the disease in homes.
“Behave like you have the virus and keep yourself and those around you safe – don’t take chances by hosting or attending meetings with more than one household.”
