The director of Change by Degrees, a Kinsale-based sustainability consultancy, has been appointed to a senior position at the UN to facilitate discussions on climate change among scientists and key policy makers.
Dr. Tara Shine has been named Co-Facilitator of the Structured Expert Dialogue of the Second Periodic Review of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC).
The Structured Expert Dialogue is a scientific-political debate that is part of the periodic review of the long-term goal of keeping global temperature rise well below 2 ° C, with the goal of 1.5 ° C. progress toward the goal and identify challenges and opportunities to achieve it.
Dr. Shine has spent 20 years as an international negotiator on climate change and advisor to governments and world leaders on environmental policy.
His Kinsale-based sustainability consultancy Change By Degrees, which he co-founded with Network Cork Entrepreneur of the Year Madeleine Murray, partners with organizations to help them ensure their business and supply chain are more sustainable.
Before creating Change by Degrees, she also served as Special Advisor to the Mary Robinson Foundation – Climate Justice and The Elders.
