Conor McGregor has made sensational claims that he will fight Manny Pacquiao in a highly successful clash in the Middle East.
The retired UFC star released a series of explosive tweets Friday night detailing the reason behind his decision to walk away from the sport earlier this summer, and even showed private Instagram messages between himself and Dana White.
McGregor was eager to fight in various letters, but revealed that he decided to announce his retirement, the third in just four years, when the coronavirus pandemic struck after he was told he would have to wait until fans could return.

From the messages, which were exchanged in February, McGregor had asked White to be included in various bills or for an event of his own, mentioning Justin Gaethje and Diego Sánchez as potential opponents.
‘I was pushing a lot for the season. Multiple opponents, multiple dates offered at all times, ‘McGregor began his post on Twitter Friday night. Everything will be done back to back. Then when covid hit and there was talk that I would have to wait for the crowds again, I walked away from the situation. I’ve been waiting long enough at that stage. ‘
The Irishman revealed his extravagant plans. “All the water under the bridge anyway who gives a shit,” he continued. ‘I’m going to box Manny Pacquiao in the Middle East.
“It will be a true honor to have faced two of the best fighters of the modern era, fearful of a fight.”
It’s often wise to take what McGregor has to say with a pinch of salt, but this crossover fight has been talked about for some time and it would generate a lot of interest.
McGregor was ranting on Twitter about his decision to leave the UFC when he made the claims.
The Notorious One released a series of private messages sent to Dana White in February.
To Diego Sanchez …
I saw your recent comments on your final fight and I’m in!
After you fought Pereira, I asked you to compete in Dublin. This was in February when I was working in the opposition for my season, pre covid.

Here’s the end of that exchange. Pre covid. Early retirement.
He never turned down Tony’s offer as suggested at the time. I said months in advance (early February) that I was not interested in being a backup for two consistent recalls.

McGregor and Pacquiao are two of the biggest wrestling stars in the world, the former being the first UFC champion to have two belts in different divisions simultaneously and the latter an eight-weight world boxing champion.
Pacquiao last fought in July 2019, defeating Keith Thurman to win the WBA welterweight world title, while McGregor erased Donald Cerrone in their UFC comeback fight in January.
McGregor has changed the codes before, when he lost to Floyd Mayweather in a money-spinning boxing match in August 2017 and has since spoken regularly about his desire to return to the ring again.

The Irishman swept through Donald Cerrone in 40 seconds in his last fight in January.
Pacquiao hasn’t fought since he beat Keith Thurman and planned to fight in the Middle East next.
It was only last month that McGregor, who recently posted pictures of him shadow boxing on social media, suggested there was a fight between the pair when he tweeted ‘accepted’ in Tagalog, the language of the Philippines.
Pacquiao has a large following in the Middle East and plans were being put in place for him to fight Terrence Crawford or another pound-for-pound star there next before the pandemic threw a wrench in the works.
It’s unclear if McGregor’s claims have any truth, but Pacquiao and his team would have no doubt that they could easily defeat the Irishman in a ring.
Just last month, Pacquiao’s strength and conditioning coach Justin Fortune said: ‘Manny will destroy Conor McGregor in three rounds.
‘He will destroy him too fast and too strong as an amazing fighter. McGregor is nothing. ‘
