Community in shock after the sudden death of a young woman from Kilkenny

The tributes have been pouring in after the sudden death of a young Kilkenny.

Sarah Dobbyn from the city of Kilkenny sadly passed away on Thursday.

And the local Kilkenny Rugby Club was one of the first to pay tribute to the “bubbly” young man, who played for the U16 team.

They wrote on Facebook: “Kilkenny Rugby Club is saddened to hear of the passing of our U16 female player Sarah Dobbyn. She will be sadly missed within the club and also by all those who knew and loved this bubbly girl with an infectious laugh.

“We convey our condolences to his parents PJ and Vivienne, brothers Luke and AJ and their extended family and friends.”

While Clara Camogie Club said they were also stunned by the tragic news.

They added: “Clara Camogie Club is deeply saddened to learn of Sarah Dobbyn’s untimely passing.

“Sarah was a valued member of our U14 and U16 Camogie panels this year and her infectious laugh and caring nature encouraged everyone who had the pleasure of meeting her.

“Her teammates, coaches and the Clara community at large will miss her deeply. We would like to express our deepest condolences to her mother Vivienne, her father PJ, her brothers Luke and AJ, her extended family and her wide circle of friends. .

“At the right hand of God was his faithful soul.”

And Sarah’s family has confirmed that her funeral mass will be held in Clara on Sunday morning.

A post on RIP.ie reads: “Sarah, beloved daughter of PJ and Vivienne and dear sister to Luke and AJ, sadly missed by her heartbroken family, her grandparents Eileen (Dobbyn) and Michael and Christina (Doyle), aunts and uncles, his cousins, his extended family, and his many friends.

“May Sarah’s gentle soul rest in peace.

“In accordance with current Government / HSE guidelines regarding public gatherings, a private family funeral will be held for Sarah, and Requiem Mass will be held at 11 am adjoining cemetery.”
