Clare posted her biggest daily increase in COVID-19 cases.
A total of 59 new cases in the county were alerted to health officials on Friday, the data of which was released today (Sunday). The Health Department has not provided confirmed data on Saturday’s cases for Clare.

Senator Martin Conway (FG) described Clare’s increase of 59 cases in the space of 24 hours as “dangerously high.” He said: “It is very concerning for the elderly and vulnerable here in Banner County. We are all now on Clare’s team, we are going to beat this virus together ”.
Testing has increased at the drive-thru test center in Cusack Park in the last fifteen days.
Health officials announced 814 new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday night. 226 are in Dublin, 77 in Cork, 64 in Galway, 56 in Donegal, 48 in Meath and the remaining 343 cases are spread across all the remaining counties.
Two additional deaths were reported to the Health Protection Surveillance Center, bringing the country’s death toll to 1,826.
In Irish hospitals, 204 people are receiving treatment for the virus, while of this number, 30 are in the ICU. A total of 16 people were hospitalized in the last 24 hours.
Speaking Sunday, Dr. Tony Holohan noted: “It is vital that the entire population consistently implement public health advice in their daily lives; Keep your social contacts to an absolute minimum and maintain physical distance when you need to be away from home.
“22 out of 26 counties have 7-day incidence rates as a percentage of 14-day incidence rates greater than 50%. This shows rapidly increasing growth rates across the country, ”said the medical director.
