Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Bayern Munich midfielder Thiago Alcántara will prove to be a “very good addition” if the Premier League club reaches an agreement on the line.
Widespread reports state that the Reds have reached an agreement with the German champions for an initial value of £ 20 million with another £ 5 million owed in the form of add-ons.
Athletic say that the Spanish international “still has to finalize terms” with Jurgen Klopp’s men but that “it should be easier.”

And reacting to the news, Carragher believes Thiago could add another dimension to Klopp’s midfield at Anfield.
Carragher said Sky sports: “Liverpool have five or six midfielders, they rotate well because they need energy in that position, but many of the players are quite similar.
“Thiago would be something different, less in energy but more technical, and I think he would be a very good addition.
“Liverpool are world class in the upper end of the field, world class in terms of defense and goalkeeper; I think they are first class in the midfield.
“Technically something could be added and Thiago fits the bill, so he comes with his fingers crossed.”
