Jamie Carragher believes that Arsenal have made three signings “in jest” with Mikel Arteta: Willian, Cedric Soares and David Luiz.
The Gunners have won just one of their last seven Premier League games and have posted their worst start to the campaign since 1981-82, ranking 15th with 13 points from their first 11 games.
First-half goals from Son Heung-min and Harry Kane secured Arsenal lost the North London derby to Tottenham on Sunday with a lack of creativity again costing Arteta’s side.

Luiz’s defense has been questioned during his time at the club, Soares has not played in the Premier League since completing a permanent move and Willian is struggling to bring goals or assists to the team.
And it’s those three transfers in particular that have caused Carragher to question the Gunners’ hiring policy.
“I think Mikel Arteta is a coach, for me, you could talk that he is under pressure now, but the situation he is in, I would not even think about Mikel Arteta’s position,” Carragher said in Sky sports.
“I really like Mikel Arteta. There is a lot of nonsense in the club: bringing players, buying players. I think some signings were a joke. In terms of bringing Willian, Luiz, Cedric.
“Is Kia Joorabchian making signings at the club? Mikel Arteta has brought Thomas Partey and Gabriel. They look like Arsenal’s top two players right now, certainly in the early stages of this season.
“They have had four managers and three CEOs since 2018. Stay with Arteta. But there will be a lot of pain for Arsenal ”.
