Hmm, what to see on Saturday night? Strictly come dance? A celebrity special from The Chase? Or two bald men fighting over a comb at Old Trafford?
This match sees the team with the second worst home record in 2020/21 hosting the team with the second worst away record. Each of them has obtained only one point from four games, either at home or away from home, as appropriate.
If you were Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, you would think you would welcome a home game against a freshly promoted team from the Championship and still waiting for their first win of the season against any club higher than League Two.
However, a loss to such a team would undoubtedly spell the end of his reign at Manchester United. Most clubs lack their supporters in the stands, but Solskjaer is probably glad the hometown faithful haven’t been to Old Trafford to see their turgid league performances and express disapproval of them this season.
West Bromwich Albion’s visit brings the two coaches together at the forefront of betting on the ‘sack race’ market.
If it was a fight to the death between the two, my money would be on Slaven Bilic, but since it will be resolved on the field, then you have to back United.

If you want to be charitable with their lousy home record in the league this season, three of the four games have been against other clubs from the traditional big six. And it’s not that the Baggies have won three and tied one of their last five visits to Manchester’s red side, or that United have lost seven points in their six home games against newly promoted teams in the last two seasons, is it? ?
Oh All that has happened. Drink.
But no matter how much history and poor form at United’s home point this will be another dark night of the soul for Solskjaer. West Brom haven’t had a clear chance in any of their games away from The Hawthorns this season and have given up eight to opponents, so even a team as erratic as the Red Devils should be able to walk away from it with three points.
Remember when these teams drew 5-5 in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last game for United? In hindsight, it seems that Fergie took the last vestiges of fun from the club when she left.
There have only been seven goals in Manchester’s five encounters since then, and three of those occurred in 2013 in the first (but certainly not the last) home loss of David Moyes’ short reign. In the four Old Trafford meetings since then, at least one of the teams has finished with zero and has been United more often than the Baggies.

The visitors will also hope to keep things tight on this one, and that has been his style on the road since Bilic took the reins. Only three teams in the Championship had fewer away games that paid more than 2.5 goals last season, and it only happened in one of their four games in 2020/21.
With United fighting for goals, having only scored one goal without penalty in their first four league games at home this season, this should be a low-scoring affair.
Trying to pick a goalscorer bet after an international break is a nightmare. You never know who is likely to play. In what form did so and so return when training? And do you know who was actually injured, or was it just a ruse to avoid some pointless international matches? Etc.
And regardless of that, it’s not like these teams are in top goal form either. Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min have only three goals fewer than United and West Brom combined in the league this season. It’s also not surprising, excluding penalties (as they have largely kept Solskjaer’s United afloat), and these two clubs are among the last three in the Premier League as average opportunities this season. Bald men, this is Peine.
With the leader of the opposition, Marcus Rashford, possibly this will be missed, Bruno Fernandes is our man. Especially since a penalty will probably be necessary for United to have a half-decent chance.
